I’ve wanted to write about this for a long time and my wonderful editor at T: MENA finally gave me the opportunity. I interviewed Beyza Nur Özler (who runs the boutique Wild Heart Free Soul in Berlin) and Damla Saydam (who founded Qirqit Studio in Bergama) about their connection with the traditional female weavers of Anatolia, the soul of Turkish kilims, and their effort in preserving and carrying this endangered craft into the future.
